With temperatures in the 50's it's hard to believe we were ice fishing. I checked the lake on Thursday and measured 10 inches of ice throughout the lake and with the temperatures remaining cold up until 10:30 in the morning we were able to have safe walking conditions for our trip. Thanks to all the families that made it out today and for all the kiddos that tried ice fishing for the first time. We had a great day of fishing with tip ups and automatics going off and producing some really nice bass, a pike and 2 dogfish!! We were able to catch some bluegills throughout the day but with the 8 inch size limit were not able to keep any for the fryer. With the temperatures close to 60 for tomorrow and possible rain the ice fishing season could be over in Southeastern Wisconsin for the year. However ice conditions in Northern Wisconsin should remain fishable for a couple weeks yet if you're not ready to put your gear away yet.
